How to upload goals using CSV files
Last updated: November 5, 2025
You can upload your business goals to StoreHero using a CSV file. This allows you to set targets for revenue, expenses, and other key metrics across multiple months.
CSV File Format Requirements
To ensure your CSV file uploads successfully, follow these formatting guidelines:
Column headers: Use lowercase three-letter month abbreviations (e.g., "oct", "nov", "dec", "jan")
No date formatting: Avoid including full dates or special formatting in column headers
Remove empty columns: Delete any columns that contain no values, such as operational expenses or net profit columns with blank data
Clean data only: Remove any rows or sections that aren't part of your core goals data (e.g., Klaviyo forecast rows if not needed)
Common Upload Issues and Solutions
System not recognizing data
If the system shows that it can't recognize your data:
Check that column headers follow the correct format (lowercase, three-letter abbreviations)
Remove any empty columns or rows with no values
Ensure there are no extra sections or data types that aren't part of your goals
Empty columns causing errors
The system may have trouble processing CSV files with empty columns. If you have columns for metrics like "operational expenses" or "net profit" that contain no values, remove these columns entirely from your CSV before uploading.
After Successful Upload
Once your goals are successfully imported, you'll be able to:
View your uploaded goals in the system
Monitor month-to-date pacing against your targets
Track performance across the months you've set goals for
If you continue to experience issues with your CSV upload, try creating a simplified version with only the essential columns and data to identify any formatting problems.
