How to set up VAT/tax calculations in StoreHero
Last updated: December 1, 2025
StoreHero pulls tax and VAT data directly from your Shopify store to ensure consistency across platforms. This means that tax calculations in StoreHero are controlled by your Shopify tax settings, not within the StoreHero dashboard itself.
Setting up taxes in Shopify
To configure VAT or other taxes that will appear in your StoreHero data:
Go to your Shopify admin panel
Navigate to Settings > Taxes & Duties
Configure your tax rates (such as 20% VAT)
For detailed instructions on setting up taxes in Shopify, refer to Shopify's tax setup guide.
Important limitations
Shopify does not backdate tax calculations. Any tax settings you configure will only apply to future orders, not historical data.
This means that if you add VAT or other taxes to your Shopify settings, the changes will only affect new orders going forward. Historical sales data in both Shopify and StoreHero will remain unchanged.
Tax settings in StoreHero dashboard
While StoreHero does have a tax percentage field in the dashboard, this setting is used specifically for calculating breakeven point ROAS and CPA on product pages, not for overall sales data calculations. The net sales figures and tax calculations in your main StoreHero reports come directly from Shopify.
